Adding herbal flavors to simple syrups is easy and fun! They are a great addition to cocktails, sparkling water, milk shakes and baked goods, they also make delicious ice cream toppings.
Basic Simple Syrup:
2 cups water
2 cups granulated sugar
Combine in a sauce pan and boil for 15 minutes. Cool and decant.
Rosemary Lavender Simple Syrup:
Combine Basic Simple Syrup ingredients, add 5 sprigs rosemary and 10 lavender bud stems, boil for 15 minutes, cool, strain, and decant.
Berry Basil Simple Syrup:
Combine Basic Simple Syrup ingredients, add 1 cup berries (blackberries, raspberries, or blueberries, or a combination) and a hand full of basil leaves, boil for 30 minutes, cool, strain, and decant.
You can try any combination of herbs in your simple syrup. Try lemon balm, lemon verbena, scented geranium, basil, rosemary, summer savory or thyme.
