Italian Ceramic Pottery Serving Platter - 16" Sunflower in Red

Code: GIR-OVP-41

Product Description

This beautifully painted Italian Ceramic serving platterl features a brightly-painted sunflower motif. "Gira" means to turn in Italian and "sole" is sun, sunflowers do indeed turn toward the sun. The design with bright yellow sunflowers on a vibrant red background evoke the sunflower fields found throughout Tuscany in late summer. This lovely bowl is painted in Montelupo, one of the many Majolica villages in Italy where age-old Italian ceramic designs are created. Use it to serve mounds of salad or pasta.

Size: 16" long, 8" wide

This piece of Italian ceramic is created for us by a small family-run studio in Montelupo. It makes an heirloom wedding gift and will look lovely on any kitchen counter top or hutch.

Because each piece of Poggi Bonsi Italian Ceramic Majolica is made one-at-a-time by hand, there may be slight variations in color and size, or differences in interpretation within the pattern. Italian ceramics are hand painted so freehand art and evidence of the artist's handling of the piece are expected. These are not imperfections, but rather part of the artisan charm of hand-crafted Italian Ceramics.
