All Clad Cookware now Available at PoggiBonsiGifts.com
August 27th, 2010
We have recently added a selection of All-Clad cookware to our online store. For decades, All-Clad creations have been revered as quintessential cookware designs, and preserved as archival standards. Though often emulated, demanding chefs and discriminating home cooks realize that nothing compares to an All-Clad original.
The unique shape of an individual pot or pan is largely what determines the task to which it is best suited. Fry pans and wok skillets, for example, have sloped sides to facilitate turning or flipping, while sauce pans have straight sides to better accommodate added liquids, such as wines or stocks, when deglazing or making other sauces. A taller vessel with a relatively narrow mouth, such as a stockpot, minimizes liquid evaporation during long, slow simmering.
The History of All-Clad
When John Ulam founded All-Clad Metalcrafters more than 35 years ago, his discipline as a metallurgist compelled him to bond together different metals to capitalize on each of their unique properties. His bonded cookware was the embodiment of simple, classic design, and proved to perform beyond the capabilities of any single-metal cookware. In the process of perfecting layered-metal bonding, a legacy was born.
Today, American artisans, using American-made metals, handcraft bonded cookware in the tradition that established a new benchmark for professional bonded cookware. At each stage of the manufacturing process, every piece of All-Clad bonded cookware is hand-inspected to ensure that it maintains All-Clad quality standards. This extreme scrutiny slows the production process, but guarantees that every piece of bonded cookware that leaves the Southwest Pennsylvania rolling mill preserves the reputation that precedes it.
Because the raw materials are critical to performance, All-Clad metallurgists specify the metals formulations down to the chemical composition and microstructure. Since quality always takes precedence over convenience, the metals are formulated for optimal cooking performance; not for ease of manufacturing. All-Clad bonded cookware is manufactured to the most stringent environmental standards. Virtually every ounce of unused material is recovered and recycled, down to the metal dust generated during the sanding process.
Every detail receives critical attention. The signature stay-cool handle is cast from solid stainless steel, and is ergonomically-designed for comfort during long cooking sessions. Rivets are formed from high-yield-strength stainless steel, and treated to remove trace elements of iron that could otherwise cause corrosion. These painstaking efforts result in a finished bonded cookware product that maintains the same integrity it was created with, even after a lifetime of service.
At All-Clad, performance is paramount, and quality will never be compromised. These are the principles that have guided All-Clad from its inception. These are the edicts of the engineers and artisans whose passion and pride continue to turn bonded cookware into heirlooms.
