Poggi Bonsi Featured in the Renton Reporter

All roads lead to Poggibonsi, or at least that’s what it appeared when one Renton business owner was lost in Tuscany more than 10 years ago.

And so Keli DeRitis convinced friend Michelle Codd that the name Poggi Bonsi, split for tongue-tied Americans, would be perfect for a European-style kitchen store.

The import-savvy business is among 20 other companies in the United States to take part in the Made in Italy national promotion this week.

Along with free events, the storefront is packed with special Italian wares through May 22, Codd said. “We’re just celebrating Italy.”

Aunti Thann’s Back Porch Bakery

Ruth Mitchell, long time Poggi Bonsi customer, and professional baker has opened a new business–”Anti Thann’s Back Porch Bakery.” Ruth will be selling  her “Palm Pies” which are freshly baked, easy-to-eat mini pies made from locally grown fruit at local Farmers Markets. The pies are available in lots of yummy flavors including apple, mixed berry, cherry, peach, pear, pumking and sweet potato. Ruth’s Farmers Market schedule is below.

Come to Poggi Bonsi at the Landing in Renton Friday, May 7 from 5-7 and meet Ruth. She’ll be helping us with a cupcake decorating demo along with Carrie Middlemiss of Bella Cupcake Couteur and Pete from caffe Umbria. Stop by for some samples and pick up a gift for mom!
