Turkish Tapestry Boot, Shoe & Sandal Trunk Show

Turkish native and Seattle resident, Eda Tupor, started Edoche in 2003 with a line of purses and bags made in Turkey from vintage “Suzani” tapestries. She soon discovered that boots were a much better medium to showcase the rich florals of the fabric.

The vintage cloth from which these unique boots are fashioned is called “Suzani” which means needlework, but to most collectors, the word has a more specific meaning: “suzani” is synonymous with the glorious embroideries of Uzbekistan, in Central Asia. The fabric is known for its beautiful vibrant colors embroidered with an array of flowers and foliage. During the nineteenth century, Uzbek women produced fabulous embroidered hangings, bed covers, wrapping cloths, table covers, and prayer mats for their households and their daughters’ dowries.

Now these beautiful weavings have found new life in the form of fashion-forward footware and Poggi Bonsi is delighted to offer them to our local customers.
