May 31st, 2009

Poggi Bonsi is delighted to introduce Perrier signature glasses to our collection of merchandise imported from France, including French pottery, linens and glassware. Bistro glasses featuring the classic Perrier logo were once only available in French bars, now these classic European glasses, as well as colorful tumblers inspired by the Perrier drink cans, are available at PoggiBonsiGifts.com. All Perrier glasses are made in France and reflect the rich history of Perrier sparkling water which was first available commercially in the late 1800’s and has been imported to the U.S. since 1976.

Legend has it that the original carbinated water source of Perrier was discovered in 218 B.C. in Les Bouillens, France by Hannibal’s army in when it was on its march to conquer Rome. It wasn’t until 1898 that Louis Perrier, a doctor from Nimes, bought the estate which included the ancient mineral spring that the name Perrier became associated with the mineral water. In 1903 Dr. Perrier released the property to St. John Harmsworth who developed the Perrier brand and commercially marketed the water. The rich green glass bottles famous for containing source Perrier water have been made by the Verrerie du Languedoc glassworks since 1973.

We invite you to visit PoggiBonsiGifts.com to see this beautiful and functional glassware as well as our selection of Italian ceramics, European linens, olive wood, and fabulous array of merchandise celebrating the Mediterranean lifestyle.
