Hotel Le Collier, Antibe
April 14th, 2008
On our recent buying trip to France we were exploring the area around Vallauris. We searched for a suitable hotel in Vallauris and Mougin, but they were all either closed for the season, or too expensive. As darkness fell, time was running out, we were cold and wet from the rain earlier in the day and needed a home for the night. We ended up in Antibe at the Hotel Le Collier…only 70 Euro a night and free parking. It was clean and comfortable–though our room smelled of cigarette smoke. We enjoyed the novelty of the espresso-v
ending machine in the lobby which dispensed surprisingly good caffe latte. The very pleasant and helpful desk clerk directed us to the hotel’s sister restaurant for “really great” pizza. We weren’t thrilled to have pizza again because we’d had it everyday since our trip started…French food is not what it’s cracked up to be and because of the high Euro, we were economizing. The pizza turned out to be fabulous and we split a 375ml of Vin de Pays Rouge which washed it down quite nicely.
